Women earn over 57% of all undergraduate degrees, yet they make up just 27.6% of all CEO positions in the US. Although 2020 was the year with the most female CEOs nominated for the Fortune 500 list, only 37 women were nominated, which makes up around 7.4% of the ranked businesses. Seeing the numbers go in the right direction is encouraging, but significant work remains to bridge the gender gap for women in business.

As lockdowns lift and communities reopen, we are starting to feel a hint of normalcy return. Living in quarantine during the COVID-19 pandemic has undeniably challenged us and, through these challenges, we have been changed.
Some have been changed as they grieve the loss of loved ones. Others have been changed as they search for a new job and means to live. Some have been forced to work throughout the pandemic, risking their lives, and others have had to work full time while taking care of and/or homeschooling children. In one way or another, most of us have had the opportunity to clear our calendars, experiment with new lifestyles, reflect on our priorities, and reset our lives.
The utility and telecommunications industry have never been more crucial than they are today.
As so many of us have experienced, most states issued temporary shelter-in-place and stay-at-home orders to slow the spread of COVID-19. Many businesses transitioned to working remotely, while others had to close their doors completely. Despite these shutdowns, several industries have been defined as “essential” and their workers have continued to show up for work.
